Now that was a DAM fun weekend

Every year Shannon's hockey team heads up to Beaver Dam for their annual "That Dam Tourney". After three years I am still working out if we go up for the hockey or really for the fun at the hotel.

This year was a nice change as we talked our mothers into babysitting the kids for the weekend, allowing both of us to enjoy ourselves. The hockey portion of the trip went well, Shannon's team lost all their games, which was expected seeing we are defending last place. You might wonder why losing could be considered going well... The great part about this tourney is that it is put together to have a lot of fun, every year they come up with a new theme, this years being the 70s. On top of the different games they have going on at the rink such as the cake walk, coloring contest, raffles, trivia quizzes, etc they completely promote having a good time. For instance their largest trophy is actually given to the last place team. Last year was the first time we won the big trophy and as our women did the "Victory" lap around the rink, everyone couldn't help but enjoy the fun spirit of this weekend.

The other great part about this weekend is the time at the hotel. Everyone from the team brings a ton of food and alcohol. The day was spent by cooking a huge pot luck in one of the suites and playing games until it was time to leave for our second game. After returning back that evening we cooked up a large dinner and headed for the pool, now it may speak for how much some of the ladies have been drinking when last year they ladies started a tradition of synchronized swimming. It may not be pretty but it is absolutely one of the most hilarious and entertaining things to watch. Around 11pm the management finally came in and gave us the boot. Some of the team decided to call it a night while the rest of us diehards returned to one of the rooms and played pictionary until the wee hours. Whether it was the drinking or the hour it was amazing how every picture ended up seeming to look like some kind of phallic symbol, and the guesses coming out of everyone's mouth would probably made a sailor blush :)

I HATE Moving!

Last time Shannon and I packed up and moved down to Prairie du Sac, I swore that I would spend the cash and pay for someone else to move me. Now as I sit here catching my breath from hauling down about the 50th box to the garage I wish I had.

A couple days ago I actually decided to call about having someone move us. I had heard good things about a company called two men and a truck and decided to call for a quote. Well quote is really a false advertisement, the only quote you get is that it cost you a $150/hr.

Well that was enough shock to make me decide to sweat it out. So here we are working away the weekend trying to make a dent in our junk as we box and haul, box and haul, box and haul :)

Kai Standing

In the past few days Kai has started to grab a hold of things and pull himself up. Yesterday as he was sitting between my legs on the floor when he leaned over on his knees and grabbed my leg straightening his legs. Bent at a 90% angle, he was holding onto my leg with his arms. I figured this was as far as he would go, however about two seconds later he let go and slowly straightened his body out, standing there without any support for about 5 to 10 seconds before plopping down on his butt. Holy Cow he is going to be running soon!

I am excited and then I am frightened by the lack of baby proofing we have done for him. You might wonder with him being our second what needs to be baby proofed... Well the great part about Jasmine is she is now of the age where we can tell her to stay out of things and she understands and for the most part obeys and with that extra benefit we have slacked off a bit on what is within the reach of a standing baby. Long story short, time to clean, or time to pack I suppose with the new house to move into!

Life in the Fast Lane!

Now that the seller accepted our offer, life has shifted into the fast lane. It seems the phone is ringing off the hook as we scramble to get everything together by all the deadlines. After considering everything I am glad we decided to give ourselves a month and a half, I just couldn't see myself having to worry about packing while taking care of paperwork, insurance, inspections, and closing.

Another great note is that some of the costs we have calculated ended up being less than we originally estimated! Now the realization of having a nice place with a big yard has really started to set in. The best part of all will be watching the kids playing in their own yard whenever they want, our first order of business will be to save up for some outdoor toys! ***Geek Factor Warning*** I highlighted our backyard, check out the satellite imagery:)

A little about the house... We are situated in a nice part of town located by the junior high, high school, and the University of Baraboo. The house itself upstairs has three bedrooms, full bathroom, living room, and a kitchen with eat in dining room. Downstairs is finished with a garage, laundry room, full bathroom, rec room, and storage area.

Although everything seems to be flying by the days seem to have slowed down. Hard to believe it has only been a couple days but we are ready to get out of this small apartment. Now we just need to wait until April 12th when we close!
